What Makes GearShield™ Different

Most gear sprays mask odor with fragrance or rely on enzyme formulas that break down inconsistently. Some popular “natural” sprays use essential oils that are documented contact allergens. GearShield™ uses professional oxidizer technology that actually eliminates the compounds causing the smell. Here’s what sets it apart:

Eliminates, Doesn’t Mask

Professional oxidizer technology breaks down odor-causing organic compounds at the molecular level. Not enzymes. Not fragrance layered on top of sweat. Gone in 10 minutes.

No Residue — Safe for Skin Contact

Hypoallergenic formula leaves zero residue on gear. Safe for boxing gloves, rashguards, shin guards, gi, headgear, and anything that contacts your skin during training.

Works in 10 Minutes

Spray, wait 10 minutes, air dry. No hours of soaking. No waiting overnight. No hoping the enzymes worked. Ready for your next session.

Built by a Practitioner

Developed by someone with decades of martial arts experience. This product has to work in the gym before it goes on this site.

How GearShield™ Works

We ship concentrated dry packets—not heavy bottles of mostly water.

This saves you money on shipping and reduces waste.

environmental impact

Our concentrate packet system reduces shipping weight by 95% and plastic waste by 80% compared to ready-to-use bottles. One reusable spray bottle + refill packets = less environmental impact.

You’ll need your own clean 32 oz spray bottle (most people already have one, or they’re about $3-5 at any store—or here’s an affordable option on Amazon).

Use a new or thoroughly cleaned bottle—residue from other products can reduce effectiveness.

Add water to your bottle, pour in the contents of one packet, shake for 30 seconds, and you’re ready to eliminate odors. Each packet makes one 32 oz bottle. Use it up, then refill the same bottle with your next packet—the waterproof label stays on permanently. Each order includes one label plus complete instructions.

important – If you’ve used other cleaning or odor remover products on your gear before:

Test on an inconspicuous area first and allow to dry completely before full application. Gear previously treated with other products, especially bleach-containing products or vinegar, may contain residues that can cause discoloration or unexpected reactions. This applies to any professional-grade oxidizer formula — always test first.

Simple 3-Step Application

Spray right after training — while gear is still warm and damp — for best results.

Step 1

Apply

Spray GearShield™ directly on sweaty gear immediately after training. Saturate the areas that contact skin — inside of gloves, headgear, shin guards, focus mitts – any heavily soiled surfaces.

Step 2

Walk Away

Store your gear where it can breathe and dry. GearShield™ works in as little as 10 minutes but keeps working until dry — no wiping, no rinsing, no babysitting.

Step 3

Ready

That’s it. Next session, gear is fresh and odor-free. Professional-grade elimination, not masking.

Why Most Gear Sprays Don’t Actually Work

Gym gear odor is produced by organic contamination — sweat and biological material — that penetrates porous materials. The organic compounds they produce penetrate deep into material structure. Most products address the symptom, not the source.

The Fragrance Problem

Fragrance doesn’t eliminate odor compounds — it layers a second smell on top of the first. You end up with gear that smells like synthetic freshness AND sweat underneath. After the fragrance fades, you’re back where you started.

Worse: your training partners can smell both.

The Enzyme Problem

Enzyme cleaners are inconsistent by design. They require specific temperature, pH, and moisture conditions to activate. On training gear that’s stored in a bag, subjected to varying temperatures, and used in humid environments, those conditions rarely align.

Even when enzymes “work,” they leave biological residue behind — dead bacteria, enzyme proteins, breakdown byproducts. In gear that contacts your skin every session, that residue matters. It also means the odor-causing compounds are broken down incompletely, and the smell returns.

The Essential Oil Problem — And a Safety Note

A note on citrus-based and essential oil sprays:

Some popular “natural” gear sprays use essential oils like tea tree, eucalyptus, or citrus as their active ingredient. The appeal is understandable — they smell clean and feel safe.

But peer-reviewed dermatology research identifies linalool and d-limonene — compounds found in many essential oil-based sprays — as documented contact allergens (Sindle & Martin, 2021, PMC8243157). These compounds are associated with contact dermatitis in sensitive individuals.

For gear that contacts skin constantly — inside of gloves, shin pads, headgear foam — this is a real consideration, particularly if you train with sensitive skin or alongside athletes who do.

GearShield™ is completely fragrance-free by design, not as a compromise. Professional odor elimination doesn’t need fragrance to confirm it worked. The odor is gone. That’s the confirmation.

How Much Do You Need?

Choose the right option based on your training schedule.

Coverage estimates based on typical application. Actual coverage depends on gear type, porosity, and saturation.

Light training schedule or one piece of problem gear? The 1-Pack handles a single super sweaty item — boxing gloves, shin guards, focus mitts — plus routine maintenance spraying across your kit for several weeks.

Training 3-4 days a week? The 2-Pack is the right call. Treat after each session, keep a backup packet ready. Free shipping and $13.50 per bottle.

Heavy training schedule, team, or multiple athletes? The 4-Pack gives you maximum supply at $11.25 per bottle. Mix one bottle at a time so each batch is fresh when you need it.

Gear with significant buildup? Plan on using more product per treatment — saturating deeply is critical for gear that has absorbed odor-causing compounds over multiple sessions. A 2-Pack or 4-Pack ensures you have enough for thorough initial treatment plus ongoing maintenance.
